Catalysts for low temperature conversion of nitrogen oxides

Más información sobre el libro

Nitrogen oxides, primarily emitted by Diesel engines, pose significant health risks. This book details the development and characterization of catalyst systems designed for the low-temperature removal and conversion of nitrogen oxides (150 - 400°C). The catalysts featured include commercially available activated carbon and zeolite supports, which are infiltrated with iron, copper, manganese, and their oxides. These catalysts effectively adsorb nitrogen dioxide and convert it almost entirely into the less harmful gases nitric oxide and nitrous oxide. Some of the systems even release nitrogen and oxygen, demonstrating superior performance at low temperatures compared to the well-known Cu-ZSM-5 catalyst. The research highlights innovative approaches to mitigating the environmental impact of nitrogen oxides through advanced catalytic processes.
