Focusing on the interconnections between the santero folk art, the Penitente Brotherhood, and their religious hymns, this study explores the deep cultural and spiritual ties of a Hispano from New Mexico. The author, with personal roots in the Penitentes, emphasizes that these elements are inseparable, showcasing the rich devotional beauty embedded in Spanish folk traditions that have been preserved through generations.
