Social Change and Political Participation in Turkey

The study explores the paradox of declining voter turnout in Turkey despite rapid socio-economic growth, challenging the conventional belief that modernization enhances political participation. Through an ecological analysis of subnational voting data from the 1960s, the author provides a detailed examination of Turkey's political development, offering insights into the complex relationship between economic changes and electoral engagement. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the dynamics at play in Turkish politics.
