Facing her husband's death and her past infidelities, Mamie relocates south to start anew, vowing to become more caring. Seeking to nurture, she adopts a dog named Forsyth. Meanwhile, Eric grapples with his own guilt over past betrayals and self-destructive behavior, leading Mamie to question his sanity when she takes him in after an injury. Additionally, she offers support to Nicky, a 19-year-old in need. As Mamie attempts to rebuild her life, an unwelcome figure from her past complicates her journey of redemption.
