The narrative continues with David's adventures as he befriends the Crooked Snake tribe of Bigfoots, following a tumultuous initial encounter. After relocating, he discovers that members of the tribe have chosen to camp nearby. Through his friendship with Nebehkakun, the clan leader, David learns about the tribe's history and the surrounding clans.
