Exploring the societal perceptions of tattoos, this dissertation examines their historical associations with sailors, criminals, and the lower class. It investigates the negative stigma surrounding tattoos and its implications, particularly in employment practices, focusing on police interactions with tattooed individuals. The study aims to determine if tattoos lead to differential treatment in society and how this social stigma impacts the life opportunities of those adorned with body art.
