Anna Tompchin, A young Romanian woman, wishes to serve both her country and mankind through her nursing during World War II. Even though she is prepared to give everything, including her life if nesessary, she doesn't realize that the merciless conflict of the Eastern Front will demand more than her worst nightmares could foretell. Surviving the worst the battlefield could inflict she returns home to find that nowhere is safe from the horror that has been unleashed on the world. In the end, she is forced to participate in the Romanian revolution in a desperate attempt to end the carnage.
