Focusing on the communication abilities of bilingual individuals with Alzheimer's-type dementia, this book explores how Puerto Rican speakers utilize their bilingual resources in informal settings. Through narrative interviews, it examines code choice and code-switching strategies, revealing that even those with severe symptoms retain bilingual competencies. The study highlights two main categories of code-switching: discourse-related and participant-related. It emphasizes the importance of understanding the communicative needs of these individuals, making it relevant for researchers and families involved in dementia care and multilingualism.
