The book focuses on and tracks the relationship and the quality of discourse that evolve between interviewer and interviewee within a series of interview situations. It presents theoretical arguments and empirical findings based on twenty-five face-to-face conversations with a freshwater fish wholesaler in the northeastern Peruvian rainforest town of Iquitos. Supplemented by the interview transcripts in Spanish, it is a valuable methodological source for sociologists, anthropologists, linguists, economists and historians who are interested in interdisciplinary qualitative research.

Die Arbeit begegnet Kooperationsmöglichkeiten zwischen Wirtschaftssoziologie und Institutionenökonomik, indem unterschiedliche organisationstheoretische Forschungstraditionen integriert und die ökonomischen Institutionen des Süßwasserfischhandels im nordöstlichen peruanischen Amazonastiefland untersucht werden. Dargestellt werden historische Entwicklungen des Handels sowie zeitgenössische informelle und formale Regelungen vom relationalen Vertrag bis zur wirtschaftspolitischen Gesetzgebung. Über Fallstudien, den Vergleich und die Analyse unterschiedlicher Unternehmensformen wird ein Rahmen für die Untersuchung der Leistungsfähigkeit und Leistungsbefähigung von Unternehmensformen in nicht-europäischen, wenig industrialisierten Länder geschaffen. Das Buch richtet sich insbesondere an Wirtschaftssoziologen, Institutionenökonomen, Wirtschaftshistoriker und Politologen sowie an interdisziplinär arbeitende Organisationstheoretiker.
