The research investigates the conceptual and procedural understanding of linear algebra among first and second year university students. Following a pilot study, the researcher developed a theoretical framework to explore alternative teaching methods for linear algebra concepts. Through case studies, tests, interviews, and concept maps, the study analyzes student understanding. While it does not aim to generalize findings to all mathematics students, the results suggest a need for further exploration into effective teaching strategies for linear algebra.
