The book examines the slow transition of South Africa's energy policies from a coal-dependent system to renewable alternatives, highlighting socio-political inequalities that persist across various regimes. It analyzes critical approaches to the state and Eskom, the political dynamics of coal and water, and the challenges faced by the Renewable Energy Independent Power Producers Procurement Programme (REIPPPP). The conclusion offers insights on alternative energy pathways, proposing transformative changes to improve the political economy of South Africa's energy system.

Ziel der Dissertation von Andrew Lawrence war, punktuelle Einblicke in den religiösen Alltag von Vindonissas Bewohnerinnen und Bewohnern in Zeit und Raum zu kontextualisieren und in das dynamische Sozialgefüge einzubinden. So hat er, ausgehend von der Analyse gesicherter Befundkontexte ritueller Handlungen im und um das Legionslager und den damit vergesellschafteten Fundensembles, versucht, die Kulttopografie des militärischen und zivilen Vindonissa in zeitlicher Tiefe zu erschliessen und zu katalogisieren. Der Einbezug weiterer spezifischer Fundgattungen, deren kultische Konnotationen über Formen bzw. Dekor und/oder Aufschriften gegeben sind oder vermutet werden, erlaubte schliesslich eine Verdichtung und Ergänzung des gewonnenen Bildes mit weiteren und anderen Spuren individueller Gesten und gemeinschaftlicher Rituale.
