This volume consists of papers presented at the International Conference on Recent Developments in Fibre Reinforced Cements and Concretes, held at the School of Engineering, University of Wales College of Cardiff, UK, 18-20 September 1989.

This volume is to take stock of current research, developments and applications, and acquaint engineers, consultants, concrete producers and local authorities with the technical and economic benefits that the use of blended cements will bring to the construction industry. Composite cements can be developed to suit the engineering and performance requirements of a given application, but one needs to have a clear understanding of the material at several levels, and confidence and reliability in this new concrete technology. The papers included in these Proceedings go some way towards the realization of this new era.
