The research focuses on the design and synthesis of photosensitive ruthenium nitrosyl complexes, exploring their photochemical behavior and nitric oxide (NO) dissociation under UV and visible light. The study investigates how different substituents in the ligand frames affect NO reactivity and scavenging capabilities. It also examines the transfer of photoreleased NO to reduced myoglobin in a phosphate buffer solution when illuminated. Quantitative analysis of NO release and other reactive species was conducted using Griess reagent and DPPH radical quenching assays.
