The Evangelicals and Christian Zionists were biased against Islam. The Evangelical support for Israel was based on their particular understanding of Biblical prophecy. The movement is having an impact on the politics of the United States. Evangelicals provide significant backing to the Republican Party. The Christian Right was strongly supportive of the Global War on Terror in Iraq and Afghanistan. The theological worldview of Christian Zionists and Evangelicals pushed them to openly support Israel. Biblical writings were often distorted to justify this political agenda. The Christian Zionists and Evangelicals had lent their support to the political agenda of the Bush Administration as never before. Their influence on the Bush administration was pushing the United States into a confrontation with the Islamic radicals.
