Giuseppe Sergi

    Giuseppe Sergi fue un antropólogo italiano conocido por su oposición al nordismo y sus obras sobre la identidad racial de los pueblos mediterráneos. Rechazó las tipologías raciales predominantes que etiquetaban a los pueblos mediterráneos como "blancos oscuros", ya que estas implicaban una concepción nordista de su descendencia de blancos que se habían mezclado racialmente con no blancos, lo cual afirmó que era falso. Sergi definió la raza mediterránea como una raza morena autónoma, postulando que la raza nórdica descendía de la raza mediterránea, cuya piel se había despigmentado a una tez pálida tras trasladarse al norte. Este concepto adquirió importancia en el modelado de la diferencia racial a principios del siglo XX.
