Zpěvy rolnické jsou naučná báseň o čtyřech knihách, jež pojednávají o polních pracích při pěstování obilí, o ošetřování ovocných stromů a vinné révy, o chovu dobytka a o včelách. Do věcného výkladu jsou vplétány krásné epizody, jako chvála Itálie, chvála vesnického života,popis koňských závodů, zápasu býku, nebo dobytčího moru.
