Focusing on the critically endangered subspecies of Western Gorillas recently identified along the Cameroon-Nigeria border, this study addresses the urgent conservation needs arising from their fragmented habitat and human interference. By analyzing nest site data from the Kagwene Sanctuary, established with support from the Cameroonian Government and the Wildlife Conservation Society, the research employs Spatial point process modeling in R to understand the gorillas' nesting behavior. The findings aim to inform conservation strategies both within the sanctuary and for other populations.
