Nach dem Zweiten Weltkrieg wurden Hunderte Millionen Menschen infolge westlicher Kriege und Interventionen ermordet, wie Chomsky in einem Gespräch mit Vltchek 2012 erläutert. Kniha je přímým výsledkem několika let strávených na cestě, v zákopech, v nepočitatelně mnoha slumech, metropolích a frontových liniích. Pracoval jsem na všech kontinentech a pohyboval jsem se shora dolů, rozprávěl jsem s elitami klientelistických států i s těmi nejchudšími z chudých, s gangstery a vojáky, vědci, umělci, horníky i sedláky. Také jsem se setkal s několika velkými mysliteli, prezidenty, zkorumpovanými úředníky a podnikateli, veliteli praporů, masovými vrahy a falešnými proroky. V mnoha chudých zemích jsem potkal tu nejcyničtější rasu lidských bytostí – služebníky a podržtašky Impéria.

Man muss die Stellung der asiatischpazifischen Region in der US- geopolitischen Strategie des Kalten Krieges begreifen, um zu verstehen, weshalb die USA den General Suharto beim Staatsstreich unterstützten, der die säkulare Regierung Indonesiens unter Führung von Präsident Sukarno stürzte, und wegschauten, als die entsetzlichen Massaker folgten, und seither das Regime unentwegt unterstützte.
