Fred Dings's The Four Rings: New and Selected Poems joins the best of his two previous collections along with twenty-nine new poems. Dings's poetry is highly lyrical and evocative; he brings to us redwing blackbirds that arrive "like the dying / reclaiming their old lives, delirious / with joy," and revelations that, like "caterpillar days that crawl / through the long winters."
