The author maintains that the working class, the proletariat, is being crushed and exploited by the capitalist class, the bourgeoisie. A socialist revolution is imminent, and must give rise to the Dictatorship Of the Proletariat, in which the vast majority of workers will crush the tiny minority of capitalists. That is the only way in which the proletariat can seize and maintain political power.
