Muddle-in-Marsh Hospital was near closure because of inept conduct of financial and other affairs. The board of directors and doctors resigned. Community activists rallied to appoint a new board of directors and a new administrator to turn around the hospital. Doctors returned to the staff. Board members Mona Lott and George G. Raffe, patient Jenny Taylia, the Chief of Medical Staff Dr. Fuller-Bull, janitor Ivor Mopp, attorney Lee Galbrain, and others take the reader through a chain of bizarre happenings intended to restore the hospital's continuing service to the community.
