Patricia Jabbeh Wesley and her family fled their native country after suffering tremendous privations and violence during the bloody Liberian Civil War at the end of the 20th Century. These poems are more than the story of one woman who carried her children over dead bodies in the streets where she lived, who fled bombs and constant gunfire, who was locked with her daughters in an internment camp where she witnessed every kind of crime against women.
