This book contains over 60 short stories that are divided into two sections. The first half of the book are stories consisting of unusual and sometimes humorous happenings that took place in Central New York a century ago. These stories provide an interesting contrast to the life we enjoy today. The second half of the book contains material taken from the official minutes of the Towns of Lysander and Van Buren and the Village of Baldwinsville. The stories deal with actions taken by officials of these governments from the early 1800s up to the 1940s. Those actions provide the reader a perspective into the problems faced by local government in a completely different era; one that is in sharp contrast to actions commonly taken by governments today. The many stories in this book will most likely bring both smiles and knowledge to the readers.

The historically accurate experiences of twelve generations of one family as they make their way from England toward an improved life; first in New England and then gradually moving westward. Their story moves from clearing the forests, to building new communities and living through several wars before settling down in one location for several generations. Their lives were a continual battle of challenges, which sometimes brought success and at other times failure.
