Opals from the Outback is a sweeping novel that takes the reader from sub-tropical Florida through Hong Kong's sampan city into the broad, expansive spaces of Queensland, Australia's outback. Casey Thorpe, a geologist by training, but international jeweler by trade, at a pro-am golf tournament in sunny Florida, Casey's home, meets Matti Stewart, a professional golfer from Queensland, Australia. Little does he know that this friendship will lead him into the middle of a family feud and place him in harm's way of pride and greed. Opals from the Outback is also a story of love: nonjudgmental love between two sisters, one of whom suffers from nymphomania; love between distant neighbors in Australia's outback; love with what nature has to offer; love of life; and, most of all, love between men and women. As with all of Jim Henry's novels, the main function of Opals from the Outback is to entertain. Hopefully the reader will laugh a little, cry a little, and think a little while reading this novel.
