Recent major discoveries of retinoic acid receptors and the pivotal role of retinoic acid in morphogenesis have significantly advanced knowledge of the biology of natural retinoids. This volume brings together contributors to these discoveries as well as dermatologists involved in research and therapy to consider the impact of these important advances at the clinical and therapeutic levels and to reassess the benefits and risks of retinoids in treating skin diseases after a decade of use. Following coverage of the latest research findings, papers discuss implications for the development of new synthetic systemic and topical retinoids.
