This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the 36th German Conference on Pattern Recognition, GCPR 2014, held in Münster, Germany, in September 2014. The 58 revised full papers and 8 short papers were carefully reviewed and selected from 153 submissions. The papers are organized in topical sections on variational models for depth and flow, reconstruction, bio-informatics, deep learning and segmentation, feature computation, video interpretation, segmentation and labeling, image processing and analysis, human pose and people tracking, interpolation and inpainting.

The portable device and mobile phone market has experienced significant growth recently, driven by innovative products like mobile TVs and multifunctional devices that integrate music, phone, and video capabilities. This expansion has been fueled by competition in software and applications for smartphones, particularly with platforms like Google’s Android and Apple’s App Store, leading to a surge in mobile applications from both individual and enterprise developers. Mobile devices have become essential in daily life, serving not just as phones but also as media players, computing devices, and personal assistants. It is crucial to address the challenges of implementing advanced pattern recognition, signal processing, and emerging networking technologies in these mobile systems. The primary goal is to encourage interdisciplinary discussions and research in mobile multimedia processing techniques and applications, while inspiring researchers to explore new technologies and applications. A significant step in this direction was the First International Workshop on Mobile Multimedia Processing (WMMP 2008), held in Tampa, Florida, on December 7, 2008, which saw around 30 papers submitted from 10 countries across the USA, Asia, and Europe.

This book constitutes the refereed proceedings of the International Workshop on Depth Image Analysis, held in conjunction with ICPR 2012 in Japan in November 2012. The 16 revised full papers presented at the workshop were carefully reviewed and selected from 27 submissions and are complemented with 3 invited papers that were also peer-reviewed. Today, climate change is among the most hotly-debated topics. The Clean Development Mechanism (CDM), one of the three financial mechanisms under the Kyoto Protocol open to developing and developed countries, was devised to assist in mitigation of global warming. This book discusses what China should do to make full use of the CDM to promote sustainable development and to meet the challenge of climate change from a legal perspective. The findings lead to the conclusion that the CDM has limitations in promoting sustainable development in China, and thus should be regarded only as a complementary instrument in combating climate change. Legal strategies for improving the implementation of CDM projects under the legal framework in China are thus put forward, and some proposals for China to meet the challenge of climate change in the post-2012 era are made.This book offers new insights to academics and policymakers both in the public and private sector. It is intended for legal practitioners and researchers on carbon trading as well as policymakers interested in the role of developing countries in climate change law. In addition, it is of interest to stakeholders of CDM projects.

Es behandelt sämtliche wichtigen Teilaspekte, beginnend mit der Gewinnung von Tiefenbildern durch passive und aktive Verfahren über die Extraktion charakteristischer Flächenmerkmale und die Segmentierung bis hin zur modellbasierten Objekterkennung. Daneben werden konkrete Anwendungen der Tiefenbildanalyse vorgestellt. Die Didaktik des Buches erlaubt es Forschern und Praktikern, sich selbständig in dieses Gebiet einzuarbeiten. Das teilweise schwer zugängliche Material wurde in einheitlicher Notation und verständlicher Form aufbereitet. Die beschriebenen Verfahren können damit leicht auf dem Computer implementiert werden. Die Literaturhinweise geben einen vollständigen Überblick über die aktuelle Forschung.
