Sechs Monate lang diente eine leer stehende Drogerie im Dresdner Stadtteil Johannesstadt als Rahmen einer Konstituierung von Öffentlichkeit. 26 Wochen hindurch wurde hier ein kommunikativer Raum erzeugt, dessen Koordinaten im Gefüge der Stadt verankert waren und doch herkömmliche Schemata unterliefen: Skulptur ohne institutionelle Präsenz, Architektur ohne Bebauungsplan, Immobilie ohne Spekulation. 183 Tage, vor allem Abende lang, wurde aus dem akuten Handlungsbedarf und nicht aus akademischem Legitimationszwang heraus die Frage der Selbstdefinierung des Individuums gestellt – eine Frage, deren Brisanz innerhalb des aktuellen Baubooms auf der Hand liegt und die zugleich als immerwährendes Problem die Entwicklung die domizilbedürftigen Gattung grundiert. Das Projekt ZWISCHENSTATION bestand aus sechs Experimenten von Künstlern und Architekten zum Bauraum Dresden. Sie fanden von Oktober 1995 bis März 1996 statt und werden in diesem Ausstellungskatalog vorgestellt.
