Más información sobre el libro

Fuzzy systems and soft computing are innovative computing techniques adept at handling imprecision, uncertainty, and partial truths. Their application in nuclear engineering poses significant challenges due to stringent safety regulations. However, both fields have seen considerable advancements over the past decade. This book explores the potential applications of fuzzy systems and soft computing within nuclear engineering. Its origins lie in a series of international workshops on Fuzzy Logic and Intelligent Technologies in Nuclear Science (FUNS), held in Mol and Antwerp between 1994 and 1998, organized by the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre (SCKeCEN). These workshops aimed to unite scientists, researchers, and engineers from academia and industry, introducing fuzzy logic, neural networks, genetic algorithms, and other soft computing methodologies to nuclear engineering, focusing on complex problem-solving in the nuclear sector. The book is structured into two main sections: the first ten chapters cover applications of fuzzy systems, while chapters eleven to twenty-one focus on soft computing. Nine chapters are based on extended papers from the FLINS'98 workshop, while twelve chapters consist of original contributions from leading researchers, providing contemporary insights into these applications.
