Inwieweit determiniert die Neurobiologie des menschlichen Wahrnehmungsapparates die Struktur der Wahrnehmung und ihrer Ausdrucksmöglichkeiten? Diese Studie vergleicht die Künste Malerei, Musik und Dichtung hin-sichtlich ihrer gemein-samen neurobiologischen Grundlagen. This thesis aims at answering the question whether the aesthetic structures underlying poetry and the fine arts are to be considered the same or different in principle. According to current issues in neurosciences as well as in the Arts research confirms that there are no basic differences concerning aesthetic perception. This is due to the fact that the human brain is functionally structured in a surprisingly simple homogenous way. The gulf between language as the media of cognition versus the plastic arts as the inferior media of sensual pleasure thus finally needs to be bridged. This paper is meant to provide the groundworks for models of visual education as a means of evading the phenomenon of visual analphabetism as a consequence of the predominance of verbal education in our time.
