Steingeräte der Linearbandkeramik im Leinetal zwischen Hannover und Northeim

Más información sobre el libro

The research area encompasses two Linear Pottery settlement zones on either side of the former glaciation limit, focusing on the analysis of stone artefacts for morphological and material differences within and between these areas, as well as their characteristics compared to subsequent cultures. Both areas sourced their flint supply through local processing of Nordic flint nodules. In the southern area, the absence of unworked raw pieces and the prevalence of smaller artefact sizes indicate a more intensive use of the raw material. Adzes were crafted from foreign metamorphic rock, likely sourced from the Danube-Carpathian region, and were imported in a finished form, with only local re-working occurring. Pebble mace heads made of quartzite sandstone are interpreted as Mesolithic contact finds, while grindstones and querns were produced from local red sandstone, and haematite was imported from the southern Harz mountains. Overall, the consistent material shows stronger connections to the Late Mesolithic than to the earliest Linear Pottery, without a clear distinction between immigration or acculturation. A significant technological shift is only evident with the Michelsberg Culture.
