Urban areas are significant contributors to air pollution, which poses serious risks to human health. Over recent decades, public and governmental concern regarding environmental issues tied to urban air quality has grown. This global problem necessitates finding methods to eliminate or reduce health risks. While the physical and chemical processes of air pollutant transport are largely understood, advancements in modeling and monitoring have been notable in urban areas. However, these tools alone cannot resolve urban air pollution; they are merely initial steps towards informing future regulations. Effective control strategies require a comprehensive understanding of the entire pollution process, including emission, atmospheric transport, transformation, and deposition. The SA TURN project, part of the EURO TRAC-2 initiative, aimed to enhance the understanding of urban scale source-receptor relationships. This project united international scientists to tackle challenges in atmospheric chemistry and physics. The current volume encapsulates the scientific findings from SA TURN, contributing to the broader effort to address urban air pollution and its health impacts.
