Im Rahmen der Implementierung der EU-Wasserrahmenrichtlinie (WRRL) wird zur Erreichung des angestrebten „guten Gewässerzustandes“ u. a. eine Quantifizierung der Einträge von Pflanzenschutzmitteln (PSM) aus diffusen Quellen verlangt. Mit dem Modell DRIPS (Drainage-Runoff-Spraydrift Input of Pesticides in Surface Waters) ist jetzt im Rahmen eines Forschungsprojekts des Umweltbundesamtes vom Institut für Ressourcenmanagement der Universität Gießen ein Modellierungs-Werkzeug entwickelt worden. Mit Hilfe von DRIPS können auf nationaler Ebene einzugsgebietsspezifische Anfangskonzentrationen (Predicted Environmental Concentration in surface waters, PECsw) für PSM-Wirkstoffe ermittelt werden.
