Más información sobre el libro
The Leibniz Supercomputing Centre (LRZ) and the Bavarian Competence Network for Technical and Scientific High Performance Computing (KONWIHR) present results from numerical simulations conducted using the High Performance Computer System in Bavaria (HLRB II) over the past two years. These papers were showcased at the Fourth Joint HLRB and KONWIHR Review and Result Workshop held in Garching on December 8-9, 2009, and were selected from progress reports of projects utilizing HLRB II. A significant portion of the contributions focuses on computational fluid dynamics (CFD), condensed matter physics, astrophysics, chemistry, computer sciences, and high-energy physics. There has been a notable increase in the user community: the number of papers in condensed matter physics rose from 6 to 12, and in high-energy physics from 2 to 5 since 2007. Additionally, biosciences saw an increase from one paper in 2007 to four in 2009, reflecting the expanding application of supercomputers into new research areas. The year 2007 was pivotal for the LRZ, marked by a significant upgrade of the SGI Altix 4700 supercomputer, achieving over 62 TeraFLOPS, and the establishment of the non-profit Gauss Centre for Supercomputing e.V. (GCS) on April 13th.
