AuszugAlthough it is with some trepidation that I have authored a new book on sugarcane technology, it seems that it is an opportune time. Most practical sugarcane technology texts are dated and developments in technology in the last 25 years have been substantial. Undertaking the task of writing a book was the suggestion of the publisher Dr. Jürgen Bruhns of Verlag Dr. Albert Bartens, who recognized the need and persuaded me to produce a book of practical usefulness. Many of the previous topics have received a new treatment here and new material is evident particularly in relation to cane quality and payment, cane preparation, diffusion, continuous pan boiling, molasses exhaustion, chemical control of factories, boilers, steam generation and steam and water balances.
