Physics meets industry

Más información sobre el libro

Dwindling public subsidies due to excessive national debt and rising cost pressures from globalization increasingly compel universities, research institutes, and industry to collaborate. To enhance prospects in material physics, the German Society for Physics (DPG) organizes the symposium "Physics meets Industry – Physical Measuring Techniques for Industrial Requirements" (PmI-2007) during its Spring Conference on Solid State Physics in Regensburg on March 28, 2007. The proceedings feature selected contributions as complete papers on various topics, including residual stress and X-ray fine structure analysis, scanning electron microscopy, secondary ion mass spectroscopy, heat treatment technology, surface analysis, and thin films and coatings. This initiative aims to foster closer ties between academia and industry, addressing the challenges posed by financial constraints and the demands of modern technological advancements. The selected topics reflect the critical intersection of physics and industrial applications, showcasing innovative measurement techniques essential for addressing contemporary industrial requirements.
