This work explores various dimensions of language resources and services through a structured ontology framework. It connects universal concepts to specific applications, aiming for a global grid that facilitates multicultural processing. A multilingual ontology based on the Swadesh List serves as a conceptual core, while an upper ontology is developed to describe linguistic services. The formal ontology addresses cultures and ethnic groups using type theory and functional programming. The text captures a conceptual model for intercultural collaboration in copyright management, focusing on international copyright laws. It discusses the development of language resources, including a web-based framework for collaborative multilingual grammar and treebank development, and a platform for multilingual resource development and intercultural communication. Additionally, it examines the exploitation of aligned parallel corpora in multilingual studies, the support of multilingual communication through the Language Grid, and the architecture for fostering intercultural collaboration. Tools designed for intercultural communication, such as an aural comprehension aid and a pictogram communication system for children, are also featured. The analysis extends to emotions in intercultural collaboration, cross-cultural studies of avatars, and culturally-situated pictogram retrieval. It reviews the implications of culture on online learning
