The BPM Conference series is recognized as the leading forum for researchers in business process management and process-aware information systems. It consistently attracts high-quality innovative research across various aspects of business process management, including theory, frameworks, methods, techniques, architectures, systems, and empirical findings. The 8th conference, held from September 14-16, 2010, at Stevens Institute of Technology in Hoboken, New Jersey, featured a stunning view of Manhattan. This volume includes 21 research papers selected from 151 submissions, showcasing a rigorous review process with an acceptance rate of 14%. Alongside these contributions, the proceedings also feature three short papers on invited keynote talks. The day before the main conference, nine international workshops were conducted, promoting the exchange of fresh ideas and discussions on emerging issues relevant to BPM. The papers from these workshops will be published in a separate volume of Springer’s Lecture Notes in Business Information Processing series. Additionally, the conference offered a doctoral consortium, an industry program, fireside chats, tutorials, panels, and demonstrations, enhancing the overall experience for attendees.
