Résumé éditeur: This work offers a fresh perspective on the Anthropocene, emphasizing mutual transformation with nature rather than control over it. The author argues that we live in a geological era defined by human influence, yet he presents an alternative view of our relationship with nature. He posits that humans and nature coexist in a shared space of transformation, rejecting the notion of a nature-human dualism. Central to this idea is "aliveness," where all subjectivity is intersubjectivity, and the self is defined through connections with others. By recognizing all beings as part of a common household of matter, desire, and imagination, we engage in what he terms “enlivenment.” This approach encourages a departure from Enlightenment thinking that removes subjectivity from material reality. To achieve this, the author advocates for replacing the concept of techné with poiesis, which emphasizes the creation of relationships that shape reality. In a world where culture and nature are not divided, reality emerges from these dynamic interactions. The self is interconnected with the whole, and this integrated freedom is essential for reconciling humanity with the natural world. This first English edition has been expanded and updated from the original German version.
