Workshop „Farmland birds – ecological basis for valuing of biodiversity targets in agricultural lands”, Kleinmachnow, 01-02 March 2013 To reach the 2020 Biodiversity Strategy aims, the biodiversity conservation needs of a sustainable, modern and innovative agriculture. Farmland birds are indicators for species diversity and landscape quality, and therefore an important basis for assessments and necessary measures. The workshop compiled results from topics regarding “Farmland birds as bio-indicators”, “Methods for agricultural areas” and “Impacts of agricultural measures on farmland birds”, and indicates ways to a “Biodiversity-friendly land-use”. Moreover, discussions resulted in policy-relevant recommendations for biodiversity protection. These conclusions should be implemented into specific and more effective nature conservation measures throughout all agricultural areas.
