Regulating Municipal Water Supply Concessions

Focusing on the newly introduced concession policy in China, the book examines its implications for municipal utilities, particularly in the water sector. It highlights concerns about accountability gaps associated with this policy. The author employs interdisciplinary methods and comparative studies, referencing the EU and US, to explore three accountability types: bureaucratic, legal, and public. Through a systematic analysis, the work aims to clarify the issues surrounding concessions, ultimately attributing the perceived accountability gap to both traditional bureaucratic practices in China and the concession system itself.
