In Reykjavík, a young German student's body is found with his eyes removed and symbols carved into his chest. Doubting the police's arrest, the victim's family hires attorney Thóra Gudmundsdóttir to investigate. Alongside her associate, she uncovers the student's obsession with Iceland's dark history, revealing contemporary dangers and mistrust.
