We live in a technologically advanced world where we can travel to the moon and communicate instantly across the globe. Yet, we remain severely underdeveloped in achieving global peace and a rule of law. With 195 sovereign states, we maintain military forces to defend against perceived threats, spending six billion dollars daily on soldiers, arms, and the aftermath of war, including the suffering of countless individuals. Despite the United Nations' promise in 1945 to end war, we have witnessed 200 conflicts since then. The issue lies in the absolute sovereignty of nations and a UN Security Council that allows one member to veto interventions, highlighting humanity's helplessness. We struggle to combat international terrorism, reduce arms production, and address the displacement of millions. Poverty, joblessness, and illiteracy, especially among girls, persist, leaving families in despair. To address these challenges, a global constitutional change is essential. The 195 states must relinquish some sovereignty to create a legitimate world authority, governed by free elections and committed to human rights, rule of law, and solidarity. Achieving this requires the involvement of all national parliaments worldwide.
