Más información sobre el libro
This illustrated book serves as the first comprehensive reference on winter uniforms worn by the German Army, Air Force, and Waffen-SS from 1942 to 1945, spanning 448 pages. Aimed at collectors, historians, model makers, and military enthusiasts, it addresses the inadequacy of standard German uniforms for the harsh Eastern Front winters, which prompted the development of the Winteranzug 42. This pioneering winter uniform was designed to withstand extreme cold, leading to subsequent versions for various military branches. The book meticulously details the complete winter uniform, including balaclava, parka, trousers, and mittens, with schematic illustrations. It features over 250 original photographs, many previously unpublished, alongside more than 1,100 color images showcasing contemporary pieces in 15 camouflage patterns. This extensive work is the result of thirty years of research and collecting by the author, enhanced by contributions from renowned collectors and museums, allowing for the display of a unique array of original and rare items. Additionally, the book explores uniforms derived from the original Neckermann design and concludes with a discussion on recognition bands and rank badges specifically created for winter uniforms.
