Más información sobre el libro
Mutual trust is essential for both private and business relationships, requiring establishment and maintenance. In international business, the ability to build and sustain trust is a significant competitive advantage. However, there is limited understanding of the trust-building processes in intercultural contexts, particularly in the Arab world. This volume presents findings from qualitative research interviews, funded by the „Landesstiftung Baden-Württemberg“ and conducted by the Orient Institute for Intercultural Studies at Heilbronn University, focusing on trust in German-Arab business relationships. It explores differences in trust semantics and processes between German expatriates and Arab executives, as well as among Arab executives from Egypt, Qatar, Libya, and the UAE. The text examines factors influencing trust development at micro, meso, and macro levels, detailing the trust-building process based on interview insights. Additionally, it offers a typology of trust prototypes and discusses the cultural impacts on trust-building. The volume also includes a comprehensive intercultural trust-building training, featuring practical guidelines and role plays for trainers. By merging theory with practice, it provides valuable insights and recommendations for intercultural trainers, researchers, businesspeople engaged in German-Arab collaborations, and students in the field.
