Numerical simulations using tabulated chemistry are well-established methods to characterize single-phase reactive flows. Due to the possibility to accurately describe the chemistry with affordable computational costs, it is of interest to apply this technique to represent two-phase reactive flows. In view of this, the present work addresses Large Eddy Simulations (LES) of diluted spray combustion in combination with the Flamelet Generated Manifold (FGM) method. Attention is given to the consistent representation of the interaction of evaporating liquid droplets with turbulence and flame. To elaborate a suited modeling approach, the relevance of the underlying phenomena is systematically investigated. At the end, a novel strategy could be derived. It consists in an extension of the Artificially Thickened Flame (ATF) method coupled with a dynamic surface wrinkling model to simulate turbulent spray flames in the Eulerian-Lagrangian framework.
