Frederick Winslow Taylor, an American mechanical engineer, revolutionized industrial efficiency through his innovative techniques. His seminal work, The Principles of Scientific Management, published in 1911, laid the groundwork for modern management practices and was later recognized as the most influential management book of the twentieth century. Taylor's application of engineering principles to factory work led to the establishment of industrial engineering as a discipline. While he is best known for scientific management, he also achieved financial success through patents in steel-process improvements, earning the term "Taylorism."
