Parting and longing, hope and despair, joy and fear. A variety of personal experiences and emotions are associated with the customs clearance hall at Friedrichstraße station in East Berlin, which was completed in 1962. Germans from East and West had to bid farewell to their relatives and friends here at the Tränenpalast. The Foundation House of History of the Federal Republic of Germany has presented a permanent exhibition on everyday life in divided Germany at this historic and authentic site since 2011.
