NEW YORK TIMES BESTSELLER • NATIONAL BOOK AWARD FINALIST • This debut novel from the author of Inland and The Morningside has been praised as “a thrilling beginning to what will certainly be a great literary career” (Elle) and is described as “spectacular” by Entertainment Weekly. With a literary voice that captivates, the narrative follows Natalia, a young doctor in a Balkan country healing from war, as she seeks to uncover the mysterious circumstances surrounding her grandfather’s death. Her investigation leads her to his well-worn copy of The Jungle Book and the tales he shared about his encounters with “the deathless man.” Yet, the most extraordinary story is the one he never told her—the legend of the tiger’s wife. Blending family legend, loss, and love, the author has crafted a timeless narrative that showcases her as one of the most original voices of her generation. This work has been recognized as one of the best books of the year by numerous esteemed publications, solidifying its place in contemporary literature.

Magický realismus. Mělo to hezkou atmosféru a některé části byly silné. Ale většina spíš ne. Možná se tam toho prostě děje až moc... a občas se můžete přistihnout, že vůli číst dál, vám dává jen chuť to už prostě dočíst.
