Ordeal by Innocence

The story revolves around Jacko Argyle, wrongfully convicted of murdering his mother, who insists he was hitchhiking when the crime occurred. Despite his claims of a mysterious middle-aged man who picked him up, the police fail to find this individual until a year later. Dr. Arthur Calgary arrives too late to clear Jacko's name, as the young man succumbs to pneumonia after only six months in prison.
