Roger enjoys his normal, pleasant life in Trone. Caitlyn is content to have the days to herself, living in her parents' old house, nodding politely to Roger as they pass by every day. But when a pamphlet comes through Roger's letter box asking, Can You Taste the Colour Orange? everything changes. Without knowing why, Roger pursues a mysterious facility who want to train him in his natural ability and recruit him for their cause. Meanwhile, Caitlyn gets pulled into the Underworld, a realm of fantastical creatures driven underground by humanity long ago. But when Roger starts having dreams about the little vampire girl imprisoned in the vaults, he begins to question the nature of the facility he cannot leave. As a team of rebels, the Colours, take Caitlyn along on their mission, truths emerge, and paths start to align; but how will Roger rescue the little girl in this place where nothing makes sense?
